Potong ? Potong Stim I guess.

Sense of humour in advertisements is something that catches audiences' attention. However, I found that it would be so ridiculous when the brand is over promise, and their service might not be the same like what they claimed in the adverts. It's understandable that ad agency will emphasize on the USP of the product but sometimes it would be exaggerated and contradicting with the fact.

Everyone in Malaysia is familiar with the current campaign of one wireless internet service provider, their message may be immoral for certain group of people as it has a very not so nice underline meaning. 'Potong' means cut in Malay, the talent of the TVC and radio ads will keep on repeating the same tagline. 'Sudah Potong? ' Cut already? in Malaysia culture, cut could be referred to circumcise. So it sounds so inappropriate in Malaysia, as Malaysia is one of the conservative country. Their humour is not welcomed by certain people, that is their failure because they failed to generate a higher standard joke that could be accepted by all of the audiences .Some perceives this campaign as a silly joke. One thing that I couldn't deny is this campaign creating buzz successfully but it is not a good one.

Their purpose to develop this tagline is to persuade the user to ditch their current internet service provider and choose their service. However, users are confused by it due to the underline meanings of the tagline. Then, they claimed that their speed (internet downloading speed) is faster but fact is their speed is really slow. I observed that all my friends who signed up for this particular service provider are facing a lot of troubles with the speed. They should ensure that their service is good before they tell us that it is good. The solid stuff that keeps consumers to be loyal with your product is your Damn Good Quality.

Let's view some of the ads that I have found in Youtube.

Radio Ads

They did a tiny correction afterwards, it's even worse.
